Children in kindergarten are invited to join the new Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium at St. Thomas Church beginning in Fall 2021.  

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atirum is an age appropriate, Montessori-styled space dedicated to forming children in God's love through the study of Sacred Scripture and the Liturgy.

"Atrium" literally means "portico, or porch entrance to a large house." In the ancient church, the atrium was a gathering space between the church proper and the street. It was the place where the catechumens, those preparing for initiation to the church, would receive religious instruction. In a similar way, the children's atrium at St. Thomas serves a child's developmental needs by preparing them to enter into full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgical and communal life of the Catholic Church.
